DA Councillor Angus Mckenzie during the YouTube clip where he stated that peoples votes could be simply bought by giving them food parcels.
Members of the struggling Zoar community, near Calitzdorp, are disgusted by remarks by a well-fed DA Cape Town councillor that their votes could be simply bought by giving them food parcels.
Arendse was responding to a statement by councillor Angus McKenzie, in a video circulating on social media, that: "Food parcels win votes in small towns like Zoar."
Zoar businessman Denver Klink was quoted in a Cape newspaper: "Our people are living in poverty, he is sitting in his comfort making jokes about Zoar, I can only imagine what else gets said."
McKenzie said the video was edited. The City of Cape Town said it was investigating.
