News of GOOD’s successful inaugural AGM in the Cape Metro has unsettled the mayor of Cape Town.
Moments after being elected to chair his party, following the DA’s Cape Town Metro AGM in Parow on 24 October, the flustered mayor, Dan Plato, was overheard warning supporters that GOOD’s rise was a matter of concern.
“Here in Cape Town, GOOD hosted a rally. The info I received is that the council chamber was full. We’ve got our work cut out for us,” Plato told his groupies. The “rally” he referred to had taken place the previous day when GOOD branch leaders and party heads converged on the City of Cape Town’s council chambers for the GOOD AGM.
“It was a good feeling, filling up the City of Cape Town council chambers with GOOD Leaders from across our metro, united in our diversity – working towards a common goal to fix Cape Town. We are proud of what we have achieved, especially as a 21-month-old movement”, said Metro- North Coordinator, Damian de Barros.
Party leader Patricia de Lille, National Organiser Shaun August and Secretary-General Brett Herron were also present, delivering speeches.
“We have got a strong ground game laid out for 2021. I believe that the hardworking activists and members of this party will deliver us results, and in turn, deliver the results that the people of South Africa so deeply desire,” said October.
