GOOD Growth – Western Cape Voters On The Move

At less than two-years-old, GOOD is the fastest growing party in the country.

By-elections in George and Saldanha Bay in November saw massive losses of support for the DA, which is accused of losing touch with ordinary voters.

GOOD contested four council seats in George and one in Saldanha. Richard Hector (Ward 27, George) won his ward, slashing the old parties’ shares of the votes.

The swing is dramatic. Support for the DA in this ward declined by nearly 25%, while support for the ANC collapsed from 12% in 2016 to just one percent last month.

In Ward 17, George, the DA likewise lost 25% of its support, while the ANC tumbled from 15% in 2016 to four percent of the vote. GOOD rose from zero in 2016 (the party was not yet established) to 28%.

In Ward 8, the DA was reduced from 54% to 36%, and the ANC from 12% to 4% - with GOOD attracting 23% of voters.

In Ward 14, GOOD came within 56 votes of winning the ward.

In Saldanha, GOOD took 39% of the vote, losing by a mere 96 votes, as support for the DA plummeted from 72% to 45%.

What all these wards have in common is that support for the old parties is falling at a rapid pace, but GOOD is rising even faster.
